50K for Christ

“Hell hole”

Ultramarathon in Bertha, SC

In Hebrews 12:1-2, Paul writes, “since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

On June 7th, I’ll race the Hell Hole 50k, a grueling ultramarathon through heat, humidity, and unforgiving trail systems in South Carolina. This will be my second ultramarathon, in an entirely new climate and terrain, alone.

My passion for endurance racing is rooted in scripture and inseparable from my testimony. I learned to know God on foot, pouring out in worship and refining through exercise the habits that fortify my faith. Chief of these, and the challenge of Paul to believers, is endurance. Taking the narrow path, whether it’s a trail or the road to heaven, requires a balance of relentless pursuit and patience. In my training and on race day, I hope to glorify the Lord, sharpen these attributes, and demonstrate the freedom of life, unchained.

I’ve partnered with Unchained: Young Lives Restored, to raise money for the non-profit’s ministry to incarcerated young men in the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Center.

Every dollar will go toward the Bibles, nutrition, and exercise equipment that we bring into the facility to restore hope, love, and spiritual freedom in the overlooked.
